Photo of the Day

The vintage photo of the day is of one of my favorite women; even if you don't recognize her, if you've been in San Diego any length of time and enjoy gardening, you'll know who she is. The photo of the day is of Katherine Olivia Sessions. She was an avid horticulturist, but not a professional one, when she first arrived in San DIego. She accepted a position as a school teacher, and intended to shape young minds- instead she shaped the future of our parks and the horticultural direction of our city. What a fortuitous delight that she came to our area to live out her life.
